WHY WE GIVE

MY FRAMEWORK FOR GIVING

Strategy

Your strategy is the philosophy you follow to become the person you want to be. It asks the question: How will you interact with systems, cultures and uncertainty to reach the future you envision?

My strategy
I will maximize my positive impact on the world throughout my lifetime by applying my most valuable skills in the field of effective altruism. I will learn from experts about truly important problems and their evidence-backed solutions, and I will help communicate these insights to people seeking ways to do good more effectively—by appealing to their sense of reason, personal fulfillment, and commitment to global kindness.

Tactics

Your tactics are the specific steps you take to support your strategy. Tactics are the tools—the small and large actions you take every day to reach your strategic goal.

My tactics:

Learn about EA: Read books and blogs, listen to podcasts, and explore websites of organizations in the field.

Reflect on how the principles of EA align with my personal values, skills, and life situation.

Start a blog: Write about what I've learned to sharpen my thinking and move closer to actionable knowledge.

Build a habit of giving: Begin with small donations and create online fundraisers.

Share my blog posts: Reach out to people who might benefit from the content—whether to encourage donations, refine their own perspectives, or hire me for their organization.

Create a positive feedback loop: Track progress, reflect on my decisions, adjust my course, and communicate the process.

Gradually increase my direct contributions: Pledge a larger part of my income to effective causes.
